Crews at the Bristol Quarry Landfill continue to realign the Sidewall Odor Mitigation System (SOMS) header pipe to create efficiencies by reducing condensation and maximizing flow. This work is now 85% complete on the east side of the landfill, and 25% complete on the west side.
A pre-bid meeting was held this week with potential contractors to install a new permanent flare for gas removal at the landfill. The flare will have double the capacity of the previous flare and will replace a temporary flare currently in use. Once the project is complete, the previous flare will be used as a backup to create redundancy in the future. Four contractors attended the meeting.
