Regular maintenance activities - monitoring of the blower, flare, and wellfield; and breaking down, cleaning, and repairing pumps – continued this week, and crews added soil to the Quarry Landfill to address settlement and minor erosion from weather events. A seam weld in the force main piping system was also compromised causing the system to be shut down for a short period. After depressurizing the line, the seam weld was fixed and the system was put back into operation.
The City of Bristol’s Solid Waste Facility Odor Reporting form has been updated and you can find the new form here or at Bristolva.org/odor. The new, improved reporting system integrates geospatial and atmospheric data relative to the time of reporting. While the old method still remains online, it is being permanently phased out over the coming weeks. Your continued, real-time reporting remains one of the greatest tools in understanding and contending with the odor issue facing our City and surrounding areas.
