Crews continued fine-tuning the gas and liquids extraction system in the quarry landfill. The temporary flare continues to burn off combustible landfill gas. Installation of a new, 12-inch header pipe in the northern end of the landfill is nearly complete. The Bristol Virginia Fire Department is scheduled to be at the landfill on August 31 with its rappelling equipment to finish installing the piping on the southeastern wall of the quarry.
