Installation of the new permanent gas header line is moving along, and crews began covering the completed sections with soil this week at the Bristol Quarry Landfill. Crews continue to make enhancements to the leachate extraction system and removed and replaced a faulty leachate pump. Routine maintenance activities were also performed on the landfill gas system. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) conducted its periodic inspection of the Bristol Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility this week, which included the Quarry Landfill, and no discrepancies were noted.
