The City of Bristol received a No Deficiency Letter this week from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) related to its most recent inspection on March 27 where all landfill permits and records (Quarry Landfill, older #498 Landfill, tire shredder, transfer station, and composting facility) were inspected.
The City is also pleased to announce it will host its fourth Open House related to the remediation efforts at the Bristol Quarry Landfill on May 21 at 6 p.m. in the City’s Council Chambers, which are located at 300 Lee Street. Representatives from the City and Stantec will be on hand to discuss progress updates and air monitoring results.
Crews this week performed regular maintenance activities including pump repairs, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Three new extraction well pumps have also been ordered, and the City anticipates it will receive and install them next week.
