The cities of Bristol, Virginia and Bristol, Tennessee have jointly requested that the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia adopt the pending consent order addressing the Bristol Landfill. This request was filed following completion of a required 45-day notice period in which the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had the opportunity to comment or intervene in the case. Neither agency did so. Both cities are anxious to see the settlement finalized and for the remediation actions to be fully implemented.
