Jake Holmes was elected to the Bristol, Virginia City Council in 2022 and was named Mayor on January 6, 2026. He serves as External Affairs Manager for Appalachian Power covering their Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee service territory.
Prior to Appalachian Power, he worked for over a decade as Legislative Director to Virginia State Delegate Israel O’Quinn. He is a native of Southwest Virginia and has a strong passion for the region and its people. He serves as Chair of the Board of Communities in Schools of the Appalachian Highlands, and in 2024 he was appointed by Governor Glenn Youngkin to the State Executive Council for Children’s Services. He is a recipient of the 2020 Business Journal of the Tri-Cities 40 under 40 Award and, more importantly, the 2024-2025 Virginia High School Bearcat Pride Award. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening and going to concerts with his wife, Hannah.
