[ARCHIVED] I-81 Round 2 (Potential Solutions) Public Meeting

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is developing a Corridor Improvement Plan (CIP) for the entire length of the Interstate 81 corridor in Virginia. The study team appreciates the public feedback received in Round 1 (Issue Identification) and is now requesting additional feedback in Round 2 (Potential Solutions) to identify potential improvements along I-81, focusing on segments that have the highest rate and severity of crashes, or the most significant traffic delays. This study excludes portions of the interstate where widenings or truck-climbing lanes were recently completed or are under development. Round 2 will consist of four public meetings throughout the corridor between July 14 and July 17. As was the case in Round 1, there will also be an on-line survey for all I-81corridor users to provide feedback.

VDOT will continue to share details and schedules of public input opportunities on the Improve 81 Study Page, and through news releases and social-media outreach. Engagement from motorists, residents, businesses, and other stakeholders is important for the team to develop a new corridor plan that effectively addresses the current and future transportation needs on I-81.
